A frightened mother wielding a firearm in a mall. Yeah, we need more of that. As many have already commented, carrying a concealed firearm in public carries an enormous responsibility. You not only need firearm training, proficiency, and knowledge of the law, you need a plan! You need to know when, why, and how you will use the firearm. And you need training in reacting in life threatening situations. That’s what the military and law enforcement do, and they can still get it wrong. Like Mike Tyson said, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth. When the adrenaline surges, your brain loses the ability to think rationally. That’s the point of many hours of repetitious training, whether you are a soldier or a pilot. Very few of us have any business carrying firearms in public places. But hey, don’t let that stop you.
