Actually, several nanoparticle platforms have been tested to serve as a universal flu vaccine.
Apparently NIH has a recent candidate in a clinical trial.
Not sure that I agree that influenza does not warrant an all out effort like Covid. Certainly, as a new virus to humans, the COVID virus had severe consequences. But flu can have similar consequences, as my neighbor reminded me this morning. She almost died of flu 9 years ago.
