Cathie Woods’ “Jetson’s” outlook fails to consider several factors. Nearly half of workers in the US are low wage earners. The purchasing power of most Chinese is expected to decline in the next few years. The pure EV vehicle is not what most people want. And the strong rightward tilt of Musk is going to sour millions of Americans on his products.
Tesla isn’t doomed, by any means, but neither is it going to create a fantasy future. Things have a way of unfolding in much more mundane ways. Of course, all this is written on a handheld device with more computing power than most PCs I’ve ever owned. What it can’t do yet is produce food on command, like on the Jetsons. The near future is always more like today than “futurists” imagine. That’s important to remember in investing. (AI anyone?)
