Great points, although the love and acceptance that we crave can only come from within ourselves. “Well hell Mike, isn’t that the problem?” Indeed! The fallacy that we cling to, in addition to the belief that we are unlovable, is that we are somehow unique in that regard. After all, we find so many other people to be lovable. At least ninety percent of the troubles of humanity are based on some version of “I’m not lovable”. Maybe that’s the original sin that Jesus came to save us from. (no, I’m not religious). He certainly preached about our inherent lovability. Ultimately, though, that love has to be self-love. It doesn’t come from other people, some deity, or even our favorite pet. It comes from honoring our imperfect humanity and that those imperfections just go with the territory.
