Heaping scorn on anybody is a form of anger, which inevitably arises from a feeling of helplessness or even worthlessness. I admittedly feel some of that scorn towards those who refuse the COVID-19 vaccine out of selfishness or some misguided political viewpoint. I admittedly see karmic justice in the death by covid of the Texas Republican who mocked those getting vaccinated or wearing masks. That probably arises from my sense of helplessness and feeling victimized by people who choose ignorance over knowledge and selfishness over the wellbeing of others.
For those who choose not to be vaccinated out of concern about side effects, known or unknown, or another reason based on making a considered decision, I just ask that they wear a mask and avoid crowded situations. I don’t want them to get sick, nor anyone with whom they come into contact.
Ultimately, it’s not about freedom or right to choose when you put others at risk. We’re dealing with a virus that does not care about your freedom or politics. It’s just doing what it’s programmed to do. It’s called Nature!
