I agree with your assessment about the nature of the problem. And you may be correct that things will only get worse. It probably will for a lot of people. At some point though, people will want or have to sell their house. If there aren’t enough buyers who can afford the going price, then the price has to come down. That’s how markets work, and I’ve been through a lot of ups and downs over the years. Of course, there will still be millions of low wage earners for whom the market will never be accessible. Our society needs to create new options for these folks.
