  1. I am old, 2. My daughter whom I care for is disabled, 3. I do have a lot of knowledge about infectious diseases, immunology, and inflammation.

There is so much that we don’t understand about covid and how it affects people so differently. What is clear is that the virus and population are adapting and that the outcome is likely to be some kind of stalemate. We should rename the disease COVID-22 or 23, depending on its current iteration, because it is no longer the same as COVID-19. It also is not trivial. Nonetheless, I believe that Covid-22.5 does not require the same extent of lockdown and draconian measures that were initially valid . Most of us now have sufficient immunity to handle the current circulating variants. Those who do not will continue to have to take special precautions, but not society as a whole, IMO. As an old guy with a disabled daughter who are fully vaccinated and twice sickened, I’m confident that we are seeing an equilibrium being established. That said, millions have been adversely affected by the virus, some of them tragically. They deserve to not be forgotten.
