I believe that your assessment has a large degree of validity, but I must have missed your proposed solution. The Big Bet of those supporting liberal democracy, be they Democrats or Republicans, is that adhering to and enforcing the rule of law will win in the end against those whom you refer to as terrorists. I’m crossing my fingers so hard that I have blisters, but I’m not sure that the rule of law will actually prevail. There seem to be too many in positions of power and authority breezily using language of violence so that, just like Trump’s lies, it starts to sound normal.
