I climbed a few rungs on the ladder, enough to get some credibility and then have the freedom to innovate and create value for the organization. The next rung would have paid a bit more, but it would have come with shackles. No thank you.

I also had a previous career in academia, where the next rung was university administration. Oh my god NO!
