I don’t know how you came up with this number, but it’s at least a tenth of the reality. There’s white supremacist racism ( still higher than your 4%, I believe), and there’s everyday “ I want to maintain the status quo of white people are in charge” racism.

Conservativism is based on the principle of maintaining the status quo. It is essentially fear based. That’s why their behaviors have become so extreme and virulent. It’s why elements of fascism are appealing, as long as the strongman leader is on their side.

Efforts to get into the mindset of conservatives seem to gloss over these critical points. Democrats have their own issues for sure, not the least of which is believing that fairness has anything to do with politics. Their leadership is old and out of touch with the social realities of 2022. Nonetheless, they do not adhere to Qanon dementia, Fox news lies and distortions, and admiration of authoritarianism. It’s a big difference.
