I especially liked the commentary on one-on-one’s. As a manger and direct report, I generally hated these. I would go in with great intentions, but pretty soon that “yuck” feeling would take over. The first thing that went wrong is we would always be in the wrong office (the manager’s), and it became a palpable power imbalance. So then it was about power. Yuck!
