I read this article, and this “review” seems to lack any statistical methodology used in typical meta-analyses ( which imperfect in themselves).
I generally enjoy your articles very much, and I am aligned with your desire for a better health system, but I’m afraid this article was a miss. Of course, it’s such a complicated, thorny topic that even experts swing and miss most of the time. The “experts” in my family recently discussed this and we favor some sort of “Medicare for all”. Consolidation of the fragmented healthcare industry is needed to correct the “divide and conquer” strategy that lines the pockets of industry, their surrogates, and yes, lawmakers. And insurance companies become non-profits. And Big Pharma has to provide more transparent pricing at lower prices. And hospitals cannot be owned by non-medical entities like private equity firms. And how in the world will any of that happen? The Democratic Party needs to make this their singular issue and every one of their candidates needs to pledge not to take a dime of contributions from the big money players in the healthcare business. Tough pill to swallow for them, but why not. They got nothing now.
