I was not aware of this, but I am not surprised, given the nature of the times. I suspect that the great art and literature of all cultures largely came from highly flawed individuals. They are always present in great abundance.

The essence of the Hero’s Journey seems to be that we are all flawed, and that our life’s struggle is to regain wholeness, integrity literally. That’s the magic elixir.
