I was wondering whether there might be some indirect effect by ivermectin reversing the immunosuppressive effect that nematode infections can have. The problem with this hypothesis is that if it were true, many covid infected people would get MORE severely ill due to a heightened inflammatory response. Many of the very cytokines unleashed in the “cytokine” storm are actually inhibited by several nematode parasites. Treating with ivermectin can reverse this inhibition with 1–2 days.
Also, any beneficial effect of ivermectin would require a preexisting parasitic infection. It’s still worthwhile to investigate, but in a more scientifically rigorous and transparent manner.
