I would suggest that you consider rewording the title of this article, because while the Walter group may have found significant methodology flaws in the previous reports, they did not establish that there is not a fetal microbiome.
What this article points out well, intentionally or otherwise, is that the public/media run with the headline, because most folks aren’t scientists or statisticians and cannot rigorously examine scientific reports. Heck, it took a large multidisciplinary team to sort out the methodology flaws in the studies cited here. No wonder there are so many headlines about studies that support a particular point of view, like with Covid treatments or miraculous nutritional supplements.
