I’m all for vaccination, but…
- Are you ok with getting injected with a monkey virus? The Oxford-Astra Zeneca vaccine is based on a simian adenovirus.
- Are you ok with being injected with a genetically modified virus. The Oxford-Astra Zeneca vaccine and others using recombinant technology are genetically modified viruses.
- Are you ok with being injected with purified virus RNA? The Moderna vaccine and others use this technology.
The point is, these vaccine platforms have never been deployed in people to any large extent. This will require a massive education effort, and it will be be fodder for the anti-vaxxers, and anti-everything else.
Recombinant vaccines are in widespread use in veterinary medicine. They are highly effective and there have been no adverse consequences to the genetic manipulation of the virus vector.
But will you take this vaccine?
