I’m no stock picking genius, and I’m no 1 percenter. I think what worked is that 20–30 years ago I reinvested all dividends and mutual fund capital gains. This created value that probably outperformed the market to a certain extent over the long haul. I didn’t have the “high flyers”, so much as the “steady eddies”. When I retired, I started taking the dividends as cash. And I’m not even touching my 401k/IRAs. I’m planning on those distributions going to charities. 🤞
