Interesting. In my days as an equine internal medicine specialist, we administered dmso intravenously to many patients, especially those that had had an ischemic bowel crisis. Also to those with acute neurological injury. There was evidence that dmso reduced reperfusion injury and other neutrophil mediated injury. The ICU often reeked of dmso ( it is so permeable that it is readily exhaled from the lungs). Luckily, none of these patients received electroshock!

I don’t think dmso is used much that way anymore. A few people reported headaches from being exposed to treated patients, so it’s probably an HSE issue.

Btw, nothing better for a wasp sting than topical dmso gel. No pain or itching at all after an hour or so.
