Interesting article.

“The world is an information minefield right now.”

In fact, information alone rarely changes a belief. Instead, information is either ignored or reinforces a belief. Beliefs change based on new experiences that create a strong emotional response. This is necessary to supplant the associated memory of previous experiences that shaped a belief. Also, beliefs can change as some of our values morph over our lives. What I have found, though, is that many people are operating under beliefs that they have carried forward from childhood, which were often given to them by influential elders. This is one reason we can get stuck in emotional and behavioral patterns. Reframing our beliefs to reflect our contemporary situation is challenging, but can be very beneficial.
