Intuitively, this makes sense. But where are the data, the results, to verify this claim? Also, it completely depends on the function in which the individual works.
My son is a software engineer for a megacap tech company, and for his work the distributed model works well. Others in the same organization need to be in the office more, because much of their work involves face to face interaction. The real challenge seems to be for managers of workers in a distributed model. There is a different interaction, and definitely more trust, that is required. Their direct reports need to validate that trust by delivering results.
