It used to be that the right wing here was virulently anti-Soviet. Now, it is pro-Russia. Newsflash (not fake): Their leadership didn’t change, and the Ukraine war is all about regaining mythical Soviet glory. Kind of like Make America Great Again. Keeping Putin at bay, therefore, has crucial implications for the West, far beyond Ukraine. His success or failure could tip the scales globally. Autocracies replacing current democracies (or not). China invading Taiwan (or not). I think our current administration gets that.
