It was ALL about them, actually. It’s about their history of emotional trauma, and when I see a Dear xxx title, I never am incentivized to invest any empathy.

The examples you gave are great, because they do invite a reader to learn more about, and empathize with, the author’s experiences and perspective. There are lots of rants, and fewer literary gems, on Medium anymore, it seems.
