No one can argue with Jensen Huang’s success, but I believe he’s got resilience wrong. Resilience is about bouncing forward from adversity, meaning one has taken a valuable lesson from the adversity they have experienced. Setting impossibly high goals may make one more prone to failure, but that just presents more lessons, opportunities to learn. Whether one takes that opportunity or not is a separate issue.

It’s probably true that what he has seen in his business career is people with low resilience setting impossibly high goals. That leads to not accomplishing much, because they have not learned from their adversity. But setting high goals is not a cause of, or otherwise directly associated with, low resilience
