Oh god, there are so many different feeds and supplements, and horse people totally buy the hype. Horses don’t get cardiovascular disease like people, but they do get metabolic syndrome with insulin resistance, which can cause severe laminitis, a painful vascular disease of the feet. And, inflammation of the stomach and large intestine are common, both of which are dependent on a healthy balance of prostaglandins, not to mention a healthy microbiome. Genetics certainly plays an important role, as it does in people. The differences in Japanese and Northern European people comes to mind.
