By the way, the more I try to make sense of the Great Resignation, and it’s corollary, the Not-so-great Refusal to Work, the more that I think this is basically a stress response- the flight component. The COVID pandemic has caused deep psychological wounding, much of which is unrecognized. People can’t flee the pandemic or the increasing vitriol in our society, because they are everywhere you turn. So they flee what they can, their jobs with their crappy culture and crappy managers. Just a theory.
