Ownership, which is based on “want to” vs “have to” or “need to” is one of the biggest missed opportunities in organizations. It creates a mindset that leads to success, even in the face of large obstacles. In the much more common “need to” mindset, people feel stressed and often overwhelmed, and they actually avoid doing what they need to do. That’s what I have observed.
