“Personal growth” is all about accepting and loving who you are. “Who” you are does not need to change. It’s “how” you are that can benefit from adjustments. Over the years, though, the “who” and the “how” become intertwined so often that they become indistinguishable to us. Untangling that knot can lead to a lot of the uncomfortable, even terrible, moments that people may experience on the path to personal growth. When done properly, and often with guidance, our personal gold can be found in the very places that cause us the greatest discomfort. It’s a journey worth taking. Not for achievement, a better job, relationships, or other external considerations. I think it’s about discovering the connection that we share with something bigger than ourselves and the sense of peace that provides.
