Reason 4, and probably #1 is that people want to feel involved and that their input matters. I know one place where morale was poor, in part, because people were left out of meetings. It’s like not being invited to a party. Of course, it’s usually a pretty boring party, but people still want to be invited. This aspect of human nature should not be overlooked, and other ways to satisfy this basic need should be explored.
