Regarding neutrophils, this is a well known effect that is due to marginated neutrophils in small vessels detaching into the blood stream. Cortisol and/or epinephrine cause this. It’s a common occurrence when a pet is brought to a veterinary practice and blood is drawn. It’s always a mature neutrophilia, reflecting cells already hanging out in blood vessels. A first line if defense.
