Shame is really the correct word in this situation. People who react so angrily to others even asking them to wear a mask, social distance, and be considerate of others are feeling shame as a primary emotion. That's on them, though.

And by the way, there's a big difference between shame and guilt. Shame is feeling bad about oneself, whereas guilt is feeling bad about what one has done. The people who feel shamed and react angrily are actually acknowledging their limiting belief that they are not good enough. And before you react to THAT, just know we all have that belief, even if we have locked it away to keep it hidden.
