So back in the days before internet you would meet someone interesting often unexpectedly. Dates that were set up, the “blind date”, were usually awkward and seldom led anywhere. That’s essentially what internet dating is. Plus, each person has their expectations and desired outcome, which is often meeting their soulmate or the like. Nothing wrong about that, but it does create a really high bar right off the bat. Its an “All or nothing” mindset. It’s also a “me first” mindset, which is a relationship killer at any stage.

What’s the alternative? I’m no expert (ha!), but maybe it’s to go into a date with sense of curiosity. And maybe not be afraid to experience emotions that can be irrational. Even unsettling. Being both vulnerable and secure can allow us to experience new opportunities with people in a more free and open way.

And yes, it’s easier said than done.
