So, in the spirit of discussion, I will point out that the study reported in rats from Saudi Arabia was an abstract from a poster presentation at a scientific conference and not a peer reviewed publication. Importantly, the rats in that study received megadoses of MK7, the equivalent of 2+ grams per day in an adult human. The recommended dosage of K2 is in micrograms per day. Other parts of this study might not stand the scrutiny of peer review.
I appreciate you bringing this fascinating nutrient to my attention. There is clearly much research that needs to be done. It reminds me of all the promising studies in rats on the anti-aging effects of resveritol and nicotinamide riboside that could not be replicated in human studies. Disappointing for sure, but necessary to scrutinize these proposed “wonder drugs” carefully.
Of course, no reason not to take safe levels of vitamin K2 supplements.
