Stephen, the topic was Zen, and that was the context of my comment. Buddhism teaches that suffering comes from not accepting what is, of wishing things were different. Suffering is widespread. We all suffer, and for very valid reasons. It is a part of our human experience. Buddhism is not judging suffering as good or bad, but offering insights as to its origins, so that people can avoid suffering needlessly. Which is different than avoiding or ignoring suffering. I sense that you are a very compassionate person, and compassion literally means to “suffer with”. Buddhism does not judge that, and neither do I. Best wishes.
