Superb article! An additional element of the midlife crisis, it seems, is recognizing that one has lost touch with who they are. We become who our partner, children, boss, and coworkers want us to be, meaning, we take on all these roles and then at some point we don’t recognize ourselves.
My solution included writing a kids’ adventure book that featured two brothers as the heroes. Not coincidentally, the two of them individually represented different facets of my identity, which I realized after I had written the book. They were a powerful duo when they worked in concert, just as I am powerful when I use all of my “superpowers”.
