Sure, but the irony is that almost everyone with these complaints who gets the opportunity to lead direct reports ends up behaving in ways that their direct reports complain about. There are lots of reasons. Number one: we are imperfect. Also, we all have limiting beliefs about our imperfection, and we fear that we will be punished for imperfection, ours and others. We can’t do a lot to mitigate others’ imperfections, so we take too much control and rely on what we know, pushing this onto others. It’s what we do to protect our interests. Most of us just can’t help ourselves.
