Thank you, George. What you suggest is interesting and fits well with a situation in which I was involved. People in this situation were craving appreciation, from their management and from each other. In the context of the four personality characteristics that you mention, the people in leadership positions tended to be assertive types, and what they thought would be motivating was what would motivate them. However, it tended to just frustrate the passive people, who felt they were not being heard.
