That seems to be the trade off to be “successful” on any social platform. Write about some trendy, hot button issue to get attention and readers, then take cover for the inevitable blowback. Hell, I’ve gotten excoriated for sharing an opinion that questioned the conclusion on a scientific topic. Of course, it was covid related, so no wonder.

I’m not at all suggesting that your writing falls into this category, but most of these trendy, emotion evoking articles aren’t worth the time. They are just pandering to irrational emotionalism. That’s the state of our social discourse these days. People have this perverse desire to keep feeding their emotional angst.
