I do believe that the interpretation of this quote needs more work, though. It seems quite a stretch. I suspect that it is actually a translation issue. If this were truly a direct quote ( highly doubtful), it would have originally been uttered in Aramaic. Then translated into Greek. Then probably Latin. Then Old English, among others. The etymology of forsaken is described as being from Old or Middle English. Thus, the original utterance and its meaning seems completely obscured and lost in the iterations of translation.
