This is highly interpretive and does not truly reflect how the story is written in the Bible. The essence of that story is that Jesus declares himself to be the Messiah.

I am totally simpatico with what you wrote. The problem is when the words of ancient spiritual icons are changed to suit a preferred meaning, whatever that may be.
