This is the crux of it all. The problem, and the opportunity, is that people are often not clear about what they value, their values themselves. Also, I have found that the values people hold for their work life and life in general are often quite different. This can set up an inner conflict that simmers along until it boils over. Finally, there is the issue of corporate values and an organization’s insistence that it’s employees adopt these values. No wonder people burn out!
