Thoughtful article, Dan, but this makes no sense. It reads like another attempt to place supernatural meaning to an execution of convenience for the Jewish patriarchy that felt threatened by Jesus. This propagates the concept of sacrifice as a necessary appeasement to a wrathful God, which I think is what you are arguing against. I’m not a believer, but I would suggest that Jesus didn’t die for our sins. His death was the result of our sins, of the pettiness and viciousness of human nature. One could argue that he resurrected for our sins, because this is the key element of Christianity. It’s what makes Jesus the Christ.
