Ultimately, labeling is an admission of a lack of understanding, of an absence of information. When it comes to the complexities of the brain, that is especially true, and is why labels and classifications proliferate. It’s also why they change over time.

I write this as I feed my daughter with multiple disabilities. She has no label or classification, and so she’s just Cally.
