That’s why I suggest that it’s a euphemism for attacking. It’s an ineffective way of expressing an opinion, because it puts the recipient on the defensive. It’s how many people express themselves, though, because that’s what they know. You described several passive, passive aggressive, and aggressive ways people deal with conflict. “Real talk” seems to be in the aggressive category. I don’t believe there’s a “Hmmm” here.
