What you describe is a natural shift in values. The key is to be able to identify your current values and the feelings and behaviors that are associated with these, which will often be different from, and maybe even conflict with, your prior values.

I have learned that when internal tensions don’t seem to be going away that it is a good time to take an inventory of my top 5 values and see if some shift has occurred. I usually find that there has been some change, a new value or order of importance within the top 5, that explains why going about things in the old way seems less satisfying. And it provides guidance on the way forward.
