Yes, and here’s another fun tidbit. That inner critic, whatever you call it, is simply trying to protect us, by keeping us small and obscure. That “satan” loves us, but it does not trust us to be able to navigate the complex, treacherous world, where true evil exists. That satan is responsible for the maladaptive coping mechanisms that we have developed and refined throughout our life to protect ourselves, as well as all of the stories we have created to support those coping mechanisms. Taken at face value, that satan would seem to be evil, but that’s just looking at the outcome, not the root cause. I think that the truly great wisdom masters, including Jesus, had special insights into this. It’s sad that Jesus’ insights have been so subverted. I would suggest that that is truly satan’s work!
