Yes, anger always feels better than hopeless, because it gives us a (false) sense of control. Similarly, albeit surprisingly, Henry’s behavior is also a form of anger. It this case it is undoubtedly directed towards himself. He is engaged in self destructive behaviors, for reasons he probably does not fully understand. In order to move past this anger he will need to forgive himself for something that is driving the anger. A good therapist can help with this. Wishing everyone well.
