Yes it is, but sheep dipping is what most organizations do. I facilitated an innovation training course that was two days long. Yes, two whole days. At the end, I had people write down and share what they would do because of the training. People left very excited and committed to fostering innovation in their teams. And then…within hours…the forgetting began. I followed up with several people to see how it was going with what they had committed to do. “Huh?” is what I heard from many participants. They had literally forgotten what they had committed to do. That was quite discouraging, and a highly valuable lesson.
