Yes, this is so true. A great way to uncover and resolve a lot of these old emotional wounds is to write a letter to the person ( it’s just for you and not to be sent), and just let it all pour out. Importantly, it should be handwritten. Later, read it back to someone whom you trust with your emotions ( often a therapist) and see what bubbles up to the surface. Pay close attention to the emotion, it’s associated feeling in your body, and what triggers it. Hopefully you can get to the underlying “why”. Often, this process results in decades-old emotional knots unraveling, and “Poof”, it’s gone. For good!

You may be familiar with this, but I thought I’d mention it, because it’s worked quite well for me.
