Yes, very important characteristics that are the outcome of deep self awareness. In my experience, most executives lack these characteristics, and so I am not sure I would label these as “thinking like an executive”. It is great when executives can think like this. Dave Cote, former CEO of Honeywell International, comes to mind. In his quarterly reports and interviews, he often pointed out some issue or shortcoming and indicated his realistic optimism that they would solve the issues and get back on a successful track. And the company delivered. Tim Cook of Apple strikes me the same way. He acknowledges challenges, he doesn’t blame, he accepts responsibility for what they can do, and then the organization delivers.
