You keep referring to your “partner”, but it seems that you have a different idea of what a partnership consists of than the other person. Most people consider a relationship partnership to consist of two people. However, just as in business, there can be different partnership configurations. The key for this to work is for each partner to consider that they are benefiting from the partnership, however it is configured. Often in business partnerships one partner seeks to derive disproportionate benefit from the arrangement, leading to disgruntlement and either resistance or resignation by other partners. You cannot convince them to see it your way, because they easily see through your words to glimpse your true motives. This is usually the case in relationship partnerships too.
